Happy Birthday B.J.

Today (Aug. 8th) is B.J.'s aka Barry Baynard 31th birthday, my oldest son. I can't believe how fast the years have gone by and yet they seem to go by even faster now that I'm older. I'm not laughing. I can still see him as a little boy, playing with his toys or friends. B. J. was a beautiful a little boy, if I do say so myself and now he is a beautiful and handsome young man. Happy Birthday B.J. Bear & Benji

Meet Bear and Benji, my babies, since all my children are grown and gone. I have two pet Shih Tzu. I'm not sure how to pronounce their breed w/o it sounding like a curse word. LOL My animal health book says the correct pronoucation is "sheed-zoo" but where's the "d" in Shih, hmm, anyway, it means Lion in Chinese. Their faces do resemble the likeness of a lion though. Bear, the lovely golden color dog at the top will be 6 yrs old Aug. 30th. I got him as a puppy in 2003 and he still poops and pees in the house, if your not watching, he very sneaky that way. BAD DOGGIES. I wonder, if I had hard wood floors if he'd still piss on my floors. Other than that bad habit, he's a pretty good dog, who loves to play ball. Marty, my husband taught him that trick as a puppy, and every opportunity Bear gets he will bring you a ball to throw. Bear is a 24/7 ball playing dog. He really don't know when to quit. When I wake up in the mornings, Bear is in my face with a ball in his mouth ready to play and he never gets tired ever. All in all, Bear is an alert, though arrogant and very affectionate, big dog in a small package. His barks bites.
Now, Benji, my black and white dog on the other hand has a totally different personally all together. I found him on the internet, hoping to find a friend for Bear, a friend not a mate. I'm not having any of that crazy humpey hump going on in my house. O' hell no! LOL Anyway, Benji was rescued from a pet farm by Rescue Farm Inc. of Poland, Indiana, the owner of the Pet Farm, I was told was closing. I just happened to spot him when I was surfing the net and fell in love. Benji was 2 yrs old May 19th. It's hard to believe we only had him alittle over a year, it seems like he had always been apart of this family. At first, Benji was a very sickly, shy and nervous puppy when we brought him home and he did't trust anyone. I believe it was Bear who finally cure him of these elements. Now Benji is a loving, sweet, cuddy dog, who loves to have his tummy rubbed. Although, he not must into playing ball, his favorite interaction with the ball is to hide it from Bear. LOL Benji is just a carefree type of dog who love to run and jump when he let loose outside. Another thing interesting about Benji is that at 10p.m. on the dot he's ready to go to bed. He will come and get you and bark, like hey put me to bed already and if you forget to close and lock his crate, he'll come and get you again. LOL funny dog. Poor Bear though hates to go to bed and he will definitately let you know about. He'll growl at you and I not having any of that. So I just approach him calmly, place the leach on and lead him to his crate and lock his ,./.,ss in. LOL. Then he pursue to bark all night, til he tires and falls asleep, that something he has done since he was a pup. If I could afford it, I have the famous Dog Whisper, Mr. Cesaur put a spell on him. This Blogging Stuff is Challenging

Boy, I never knew how dumb I was until I try to blog , put I'm slowly getting some SMARTS if that's what you call it LOL. I try all day and I mean aaallll day Sat. to add a link to my posting ( I was up til 3p). I highlighted the word that I chosed( "here" the word I pick) that would directly take the reader to another place within my blog, that I was making reference too. I clicked on the Green bogg in the toolbar area that kinda looks like a "C" and this BLUE box opens up. It's the Hyperlink box that you put the web-site info. in, that links to another place, within my blog. Leaving the http:// where it is, you then add the web-site address after the http:// click on OKAY to save the info in the hyperlink box, click on Publish the Post (that's the paragraph I just wrote) click on Preview. When I click on the word "here" in that paragraph that I just wrote the highlighted word took me to a page that said No Page Found. CRAP!!! I was so GGrrrr that I turn the color of the DEVIL himself, when hell freezes over. So I decided to go to the page that I'm wanting, write it down, the web-site page , log-out of my Blog page, log-in to the Yahoo page, type in the all the writing of that web-site and see if it takes me to my Blog page, which I knew was there, but my stupid computer said there is NO PAGE. And vo'lot. There's my page. It was a human ERROR. I kept typing in achive instead of archive OMG! O' well, you live and learn and some times somethings take longer, way to long for me to learn LOL, But I got through it, this time. How many more challenging optical am I going to have to cross. I dare not think of it, for my brain is over load now, compounding all the links that I can now add without thinking fifty million times about it. I'm smiling now!

How long did it take, to take out the SL's?

It took 9 grueling days and night to take out these 575 braids of locs in my hair and I still feel the pain in my scapula, but was worth it in the end though. And I have my curls and length somewhat. I'm hopful that by next July my hair will be twice the length. It could happen. Look at what I begin with just one year ago. Here

Tak'n them Down!

As some of you may know I decided in June of "09" to take down my Sisterloc (SL). It was a very personal decision for me and all I can say is that I had a love and hate affair with them. During my 10th month my hair became very very dry and brittle and I lost 2 locs, they literally shredded from the root. And I know from others sites and other SL bloggers that this may happen, one loses a loc or two, with 400 plus or more locs that not really a lost, but for me it was devastating and the ends begin to explode, OMG, which again, is what the hair is suppose to do. I think if all of these things had of happened at the begin stage, like all of the pics of SL that I seen then I might have felt differently. Who really knows? Well it done! And I love, love, love my hair, after all of the years and now at 50, I don't mine saying my age "50" I love my hair. It feels healthy, it looks healthy, and I'm astatic about my hair. I am at PEACE with my HAIR. Wwwoooooo!

Look who I met up with in Indianapolis

Do you remember me saiding "I wonder who I will me next?" Of course you don't unless you read the blog on Locked Down In Chi-Town. Anyhow, for those of you who do, I met up with Annette, she was down in Indy for a holiday vacation, visiting with her daughter Erika, a very lovely young lady. I had e-mailed Annette to wish her Happy Holiday and to throw a question at her about an up and coming event in Indy we plan to attend. And to my surprise, when she replied back and told me, she was in town I was excited. I knew that we just had to get together. We had a great time chatting at StarBucks coffee house just the three of us, Annette, her daughter Erika, and me. I was so anxious to meet Annette, I did'nt even ask her if she dranked coffee, less alone, liked coffee. Where were my matters, thank goodness they serve tea. We had a nice time talking about our hair and everything else. We even went to my favorite quilt shop on 86th street, which happens to be the background of the picture. And I may have inspired them both to take up quilting or a sewing project. Your friend Joyce would approve. Smiles

To all my fans, you've got to see this Obama and McCain Dance-Off and special guest Palin.

What a wonderful vision!

Crispus Attucks fell so that Rosa Parks could sit, Rosa Parks sat so that Dr. Martin Luther King could march, Dr. Martin Luther King marched so that Barack Obama could run, Barack Obama is running so that our children and grandchildren can fly.

Silverthorne Towne Home of the Outlets

When we visited the Silverthorne Town in Denver Co. I was'nt all that impressed with this little town maybe it was because of the Outlet store. However, the creek that ran beside the shopping area was breath taking. I can remember living in Greencastle Ind. and down around Round Barn road there was a creek I use to visit, some people would swim in it, but I did'nt, too afraid of getting bite by the crab that lived in the creek and leaches. Yuk! Do you see the snow capped mountain behide the Great Outdoor Clothing Shop? Awesome view. Huh hu

Idaho Springs-Gold Rush

Our first stop in Denver was to Idaho Springs. It reminded me of the old western movies. LOL Idaho Springs was where the Gold Rush began, but I did'nt find any. O'well, I wonder if any of my ancestors did or if they walked these grounds or traveled through these grand mountains. It truly was an unbelieveable place to see.

If you look hard enough you can the mountain in the horizon and the back of Jessica, my daughter and Marty walking along the side walk. Hey guys wait up, someone has to take a picture of me. LOL

It a Celebration in Marriage for Amanda Ann Edwards and Brendon Michael Schroeder

It was a sunny Oct. day on the18th 2008 when these two united in marriage. My stepdaughter Amanda couldn't have looked more beautiful and her father more proud to see his only daughter married. I think I saw tears swell in his eyes as they said their vows.
This quilt is the wedding gift I made for Amanda and Brendon. In which, I worked effortfully on for two straight weeks. Marty kept asking me ifI was going to get it finished in time. Through sleepless nights and sweat and a lot of coffee, lol, it was finished. We liked it so well that I bought fabric to make one for us. This time around,I can take my time. LOL

"CHANGE" Rally in Denver Co.

How exciting is that, we had the good fortune to be in Denver Co. on the same day as the "Change" Rally with Barack Obama at the Civic Center Park on Sunday Oct. 26th 2008. There was a massive crowd. I can't believe how many people were there. We did'nt meet him nor could we see him, but we could hear every word he said and that alone was enough for me to remember for the rest of my life. It was so grand being in the same atomsphere as Barack Obama.

Can You Believe It, Obama the next President of the United States

History is being made as Barack Obama is the next elected President. It is amazing to see, witness and hear as the book opens and the pages written, as we as a nation anxiously await for the chapters that follow in the next four years.
I can tell you this of all the Presidents to remember, I will never forget the 44th President of the United States.

TOO CURLY

Well, it'll be a month August 16th and I will have my first retightening then. I'm still trying to get use to all of this. I can't seem to do anything with my hair, it's too curly. I'm not sure, but maybe it's just to curly for SL. Will it ever straighten out and relaxs? Don't get me wrong, I love love the freedom of not having to do anything to my hair (did I just contradict herself LOL). I mean, I like getting up in the mornings and just having to hand fluff up my hair, shake and go. No H2O though, it makes it curl. Before SL, my morning routine was to get up and plug in the electric curling iron, the electric stainless steel comb and the electric flat iron and work the frizz and naps and unwanted curls out of my hair. This was just about a every day routine unless I decided to wear a pig tail. That's alot a heat on ones hair, that's probably why it never grew pass my shoulders. U think. Now, I'm older and wiser and just plain tried of doing that routine. I welcome my nappy hair, I LOVE my nappy hair, that came with being me, a beautiful black woman with some Hispanic blood too. But I don't feel beautiful sadly enough. I guess this is the ugly stage I read about and I read it will pass. I just wish I could find some SL bloggers out there that may be going through the same phase as me right now . DOES ANY ONE HEAR ME!

OMG

Here are pics of me before and and after. OMG my hair is sooo curly, each and every loc has a little curly thing going on at the end. I can't wait to see how it is going to look a couple of inches longer, say about 10". I'm glad the kitchen in the background is clean. lol

I'm taking the plunge to Sisterlochood.

I will be taking the big step July 14-15 2008. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I am excited because I will no longer feel like I am a prison of my own hair and scared because of how this look will look on me. I have been relaxer free since July 07 and had the relaxer cut out in May 08. Silly me, did't reseach enough to know that I did't have to cut the relaxer out first. However, I had planned on getting the twist w/ extensions ( a pricey hair style) on that particular day and get the SL next year. But when I looked at the money issue, it's like, why am I getting fake hair for 12 wks when I can start now with my own hair for life. So sisterlock sisters everywhere out there, cheer me on and thank you so much. You all have been such an inspiration to me. I will keep everyone posted and have pics to share.
